Fall leaves

I started taking long walks in my neighborhood, and began looking up. The last few fall leaves against blue sky instead of the typical winter grey makes a beautiful contrast. Deep in tree branches rays of light would illuminate certain leaves.

Seeing these leaves illuminated while I'm studying The Light on Yoga made me appreciate a kind of symbolism. These leaves are together, near their end, catching a last few stray rays of light. As people with the complexities of our relationships, it's wonderful when we catch our own ray of light and have someone around to share it with.

Technical Details: In these photos, I use low aperture with a long range telephoto lens to create separate layers of foliage. I decided to process them with a different color tone for the sky than is natural. The leaves themselves have had little alteration. Top photos were taken at River Place Nature Trail, the bottom photos were taken in East Austin.
